This is Halloween...

Halloween is my favorite day of the year... I should be saying "ZOMG!!! IT'S HALLOWEEEEEEEN!!!" Not this year. Nope. It's more like, "Woooo... it's Halloween..." Yeah, I'm just not feeling it this year. I've tried everything... and I shouldn't have to try to get into the Halloween spirit. I've had a few Tim Burton movie fests this month, watched Labyrinth... watched all the Freddy and Jason stuff... and some horror movies from the '60s and what not. Most importantly, I've watched "The Crow" and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" I don't know how many times this year and a few times over the last few weeks. Still... meh.  Oh, and I can't forget, I've even jammed to my Halloween playlist, and I've made a last-ditch effort by blogging some of my fave Halloween-ish tunes. Again, nothing... meh.

Not only is Halloween my fave day of the year, October is my fave month of the year. The three H's occur during October:

1) Hockey
2) Halloween
3) Hoodies/hoodie weather

I need all three of those H's for October to go well. Most importantly, I NEED the FIRST H. HOCKEY. Do I have hockey? Well, sort of... if you count the few KHL games that have been broadcasted. But, NO, I do not have hockey. The NHL has been locked out. For the second time in 8 years. Life without hockey is pure torture. And nothing feels right, nor does it feel normal. There's like a big, black hole in my world/life. Very few people I know understand that. But it's true. There is a huge void. Everything else is just, meh. I don't care. But I care about hockey. Gary Bettman, GIVE ME MY HOCKEY, DAMMIT!!!!! (For those who don't know, the NHL has been locked out until at least November 30th.) So yeah, a hockeyless October = no bueno. I have the other two H's... but without hockey, those are meaningless. It's just a huge damper.

Aaaaand having Halloween drop on a Wednesday? Ew.

Halloween is dead. Or at least this year it is... here's hoping for a better Halloween 2013. I do however, have a smidge of halloween friendliness in me, so... Happy Halloween, everyone!!! For those who are trick-or-treating or taking your kids out, be safe!!!

Since I'm wearing my RHPS 'Dr. Frank-N-Furter' shirt, I'll leave everyone with this....

Caution: John Taylor and Edgar Allan Poe cause extreme happiness...

I am still geeking out over John Taylor's book, "In The Pleasure Groove"... no, I have not finished reading it yet, because I would like to stay in the pleasure groove for as long as I possibly can. haha! When INXS' autobiography came out a few years back, I finished it in 2-3 days, and quickly became sad because there was nothing left to read. Yeah, I am savoring every moment with this book. Slow and steady wins the race.
As if THAT wasn't enough, John Taylor did an interview on Sirius 1st Wave this morning, at 9am. I had American Lit at 10am, so I could only squee... I mean, listen, for about 30 minutes or so. Thank gawd for DVR. Those 30 minutes caused extreme giddiness... and I do believe that giddiness followed me to American Lit this morning. Mmhmm. This book has super powers (or something?). Since I started reading it, I am finding that I have been enjoying my classes a little better. Or no, let's just say that my classes have been a bit more tolerable. Yeah, I'll go with that. One cannot help but get all giddy and giggly while reading ITPG... some of the things he says are downright hilarious, and you cannot help but smile and laugh.

Which takes me to American Lit. It's just now starting to get interesting. FINALLY!!! Now that it's more than half way through the semester. Ha. We are finally on Volume B for our Lit book and that is the good stuff. We just finished up some Washington Irving readings: "Rip Van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". My excitement stems from the latter read. While reading it, I could not help but think of/see Johnny Depp. 'Ichabod Crane' will always be Johnny Depp in my world. Always. Talk about a distraction!
Anyway, we spent the class time going over some discussion questions he had given us to work on during class on Wednesday. I went in total dork mode and ended up writing two full pages (both front/back) while answering questions that probably only needed to be a full page in length... I should probably mention that I finished it last night (at home), because I couldn't wait until this morning to answer them. Nerd alert. Yeah, that rarely happens. While talking about 'urban legends', we got on the subject of ghosts and scary stories... all of that jazz. YES!!! As if I wasn't already giddy, our instructor informed us towards the end of class that we would soon be spending some time on Edgar Allan Poe!!! DOUBLE FREAKING YES!!! YES!!! I couldn't help but squee... and I'm pretty sure I even shrieked "yes!" at that moment too.
And if THAT wasn't enough, he asked if any of us had seen "The Raven"... and said he had a method to his madness. He asked us for permission to show it, and I'm pretty sure I repeated "yes!" at least 4 or 5 times? My friend Ashley can totally vouch for all of this. Haha! So, not only will we be reading Poe, we will also be watching "The Raven" in class. CAN I GET A TRIPLE YES?!?! John friggin' Cusack!!! This class has never made me so happy.

Welcome to my world.

A little introduction...

My name is Elizabeth, but I go by Liz. I was born on Valentine's Day, which is the lamest day of the year. I was born in the wrong decade. Music makes my world go 'round. My taste in music is pretty eclectic, but my heart will always belong to 80s music; hair metal, classic rock, new wave, glam, alternative, pop etc. I also love '80s movies and TV shows... just pretty much all things '80s. I am heavily into ice hockey... one could call me obsessed. The San Jose Sharks are my team and have been since 2000. Yeah, I bleed teal. I love to write... I would like to become a music journalist. If not a music journalist, I would settle for a sports journalist (journaling ice hockey, of course!)
I love animals... more than I love most humans, actually. Animal cruelty pisses me off to no end, and if I see you hurting an animal, I will go absolutely crazy on you. I love Hanson. Proud Fanson since 1997! I am young, but I am not stupid. I am loud, but I am also quiet. I am shy, but I am also outgoing. I am a tad bit guarded, but I have my reasons. I am random but it keeps life interesting. I like doing "The Time Warp"... and I couldn't even tell you how many times I have seen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"... but it's gotta be an unhealthy number. While we're on the subject of movies... John Hughes and Tim Burton are my loves! I am absolutely obsessed with their movies. I have unhealthy obsessions with James Dean, James Franco, Johnny Depp, and John Cusack. I also absolutely adore Heath Ledger (R.I.P.), River Phoenix (R.I.P.), Ryan Gosling, and Matthew Broderick. "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is my favorite movie of all-time.
I love my family and my friends. I don't normally let a lot of people in... so if I let you in, consider yourself special. I LOVE all things England and I used to want to move/live there, but not so much anymore.
I say "Dude" a lot. I am totally misunderstood. I love going to concerts. I rock out/dance even when there's no music playing. I like to read; Edgar Allan Poe and Ernest Hemingway are my favorite authors. Halloween is my favorite day of the year. I like tattoos; I have 6, and I want more. George is my favorite Beatle... but ya gotta love Ringo! I don't like drama, so don't bring it near me. I also don't like stupid people. Stupid people make my head hurt. I am PRO Gay Rights, and nothing will change that. I march to the beat of my own drum, and I am perfectly okay with that.

I started a music blog back in April and it's doing really well... but I've decided to start a 2nd blog, a more personal one. This is a bit uncharacteristic of me, but eh, why not? This blog is going to focus on the things that occur in my life. The sky is the limit here! We'll see how this goes...
